Refering to such a table, up to May 2012, number of lecturers reaced a figure of 92, where 16,30% of them hold Doctoral degrees, 78,26% Master degrees, and 5, 44% Undergraduate degrees.
If all registered students are used as a point of comparison (totalling 5732 students), the ratio between lecturers and students is 1:62. If the number of enrolled students are employed for doing so, the ratio becomes 1:58 (one lecturer serving 58 students).

According to the Chairman of the Indonesian Lecturers Association, in the Indonesian context, the appropriate ratio is 1:36 and the ideal one is 1:30 (www.padangmedia.com). Fisip Unmul strives to catch up this ratio. However, numerous impediments hampered the efforts, particularly the limited lecturers allocation for Fisip Unmul in the lecturers recruitment (lecturers are civil servants) and the recent policy of the Indonesian government in declaring a moratorium on civil servant recruitment.
